Empowering Practices: A Hands On Workshop on LARC Care and Client Centered Contraceptive Counseling

ASTHO’s Contraception Access Learning Community, in collaboration with Healthy Futures of Texas, Every Body Texas, University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies, and the Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition, is excited to invite you to a hands-on, in-person training focused on person-centered contraception counseling and long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) care. 

At this training, the Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health and women’s healthcare company Organon will offer sessions on: 

  • Client Centered Counseling 
  • Basic IUC Skills Placement and Removal Training 
  • Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant) 68 mg Radiopaque 

At the end of this event, attendees will: 

  • Be able to describe key components of client-centered contraceptive counseling 
  • Have increased knowledge and comfort of the insertion and removal of LARCs, including IUDs and implants 
  • Identify ways to incorporate client-centered contraceptive practices into LARC care

Continuing Nursing Education 

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. 

This activity offers up to 2.5 contact hours for nurses.  

Continuing Medical Education 

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. 

Important information about Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON® 

To participate in the NEXPLANON® Clinical Training Program, participants must have an active U.S. State license number or NPI number. The NEXPLANON® Clinical Training Program is available only to U.S. clinicians authorized to perform procedures entailed in insertion and removal of NEXPLANON® under their state practice act. These clinicians include:  

  • MD, DO, PA, NP, CNM, naturopathic MD and/or ND  
  • Residents with state and/or prescriptive licenses  
  • Military providers with a U.S. state license and/or NPI number  
  • Licensed registered nurses who are enrolled in advanced practice studies  
  • Medical students or physician assistant students without a U.S. state license or NPI number may not certify  

Once trained and state/prescriptive licenses are validated with an authorized distributor, the heath care provider can order NEXPLANON®. 

Please note: the Clinical Training Program for NEXPLANON® is not an accredited CME program.
