Session 1: Preparing to Respond to Biological Threats: Use of Mission Ready Packages - September 15, 2022; 2:30-4pm ET
The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) will host a webinar to train public health representatives on the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) process and how to create mission ready packages. Mission Ready Packages greatly reduce the time spent on the request and offer process and allow resources to deploy more quickly and improves the reimbursement process by giving resource providers a better understanding of cost eligibility.
Session 2: Considerations for Maternal and Child Health and Public Health Emergencies - September 22, 2022; 4-5pm ET
Access to care for pregnant people, neonates, and infants can be interrupted during emergencies, including natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires, and floods. Public health emergencies caused by emerging infectious disease, whether precipitated by a natural disaster or resulting from an epidemic or pandemic, can disproportionality impact pregnant people, neonates, and infants as demonstrated by the Zika virus epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic. During this webinar, ASTHO will share policy options available to jurisdictions to enhance emergency preparedness and care for pregnant people, neonates, and infants and highlight relevant ASTHO resources.
Session 3: Early Warning Signs: Health and Disease Surveillance using the National Biosurveillance Integration Center - September 29, 2022; 4-5pm ET
The National Biosurveillance Integration Center (NBIC) integrates, analyzes, and distributes key information about health and disease events to help ensure the nation's responses are well-informed, save lives, and minimize economic impact. In this webinar, NBIC will highlight their role in serving as a bridge between federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal partners to integrate information from thousands of sources about current and emerging biological threats to human, animal, plant, and environmental health, improving early warning and situational awareness. NBIC will highlight their resources and technical assistance available to SLTT partners.
