Disease Forecasting Learning Series - Communicating with Policymakers
Virtual
Thursday, July 18, 2024
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Eastern Standard Time
As part of ASTHO’s Disease Forecasting Learning Series, this webinar will focus on communicating with policymakers. While many epidemiology and informatics staff may not communicate directly with elected officials and other policymakers, their reports, graphs, and talking points are used to brief and inform them.
This session will provide an overview of key considerations when developing documents and talking points that will be used to brief health department leaders, policymakers, and elected officials.
Participants will hear about policy priorities of CDC Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics, learn how state legislators have been educated on public health and disease forecasting, and understand the importance of developing materials and talking points that can effectively communicate important public health information – to both experts and new professionals in the field.

- Adam Brush, MSW, MPH, Associate Director for Policy and Communication, CDC Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics
