Overdose Data to Action Public Health Public Safety Convening

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is pleased to announce a virtual OD2A Public Health/Public Safety Partnerships Convening, to be held June 1-2, 2022, from approximately 1-5 p.m., ET each day.
This meeting will bring together OD2A recipients, public safety, and other partners to discuss overdose-related issues, harm reduction, and public health-public safety partnership to address the overdose crisis.
By the end of this convening, participants will be able to:
- Identify barriers or challenges, and possible solutions, to effective public health and public safety partnerships.
- Identify how public safety organizations including law enforcement, fire, and EMS can support overdose prevention activities through partnerships.
- Identify how harm reduction practices, such as naloxone distribution, can assist public safety organizations in emergency community situations including opioid overdoses.
- Define the roles and common goals of public health and public safety organizations in supporting evidence-based overdose prevention strategies related to community safety.
- Describe success stories within public safety and public health collaborative efforts.
- Understand types of effective public health public safety partnerships/programs (i.e., diversion, post overdose outreach, overdose prevention in jails).
